GDMBR Day 19

 Day 19
63 miles June 30

Woke up nice and early again to try to make it as far across the Basin as possible before the winds picked up again. Out of camp by 540. Lots of gas wells.

The Wyoming Great Basin is a part of the divide that does not drain to the Pacific or the Atlantic. When you pee here it just stays here
Saw some wild horses and some seriously cool clouds. It rained a bit but it mostly evaporated before hitting the ground. The wind was strong but fickle. Lots and lot of wild horses.  Lots of huge dung piles to dodge.

Took a unofficial route (read: wrong turn) and saw a lone wild horse he kept watch from his ridge and kept pace with me. Then started galloping straight for me when I wasn't watching.  It was like a scarier version of red light green light with a wild horse I was apparently encroaching upon. I got away and he kept watch of me untill I passed the next ridge.

I spooked lots of antelope and they would take off across the plain. Reminded me of Africa.

Made it to the water well about 22 miles out of the next town. Pretty much crossed the whole Basin in one day and had perfectly cool weather and not too bad of wind. Pretty good for a section notorious for its heat and wind. Yay!
