Woke up to the sounds of sand hill cranes. They make such interesting noises.
The pass today was nicely graded and was through some old growth forest, really nice change except that I was sweating buckets by 730 in the morning. Very hot and humid today.
Lots of white tailed deer out and about today.
Stopped in ovando for lunch.
This is the old jail house they let Divide riders sleep in but it was only lunch so I pressed on.
Saw my second bear, I think it was a grizzly. It was a younger one and it was down a ravine from the road where I was stopped to take a break. It was doing whatever bears do in the woods when they are alone and I could only hear it. So I did what I do when I'm alone in the woods and farted (quite loudly) and the bear ran off (I saw it as it ran away).
Near the end of the day I was the first person on the scene to a car wreck. Three people accidently rolled there jeep into this lake just before I came around this corner. They were pretty banged up and bloody but no serious injuries, thankfully. I just helped calm them down and got them some water and waited until a truck came around the bend and said they could hop in the back and they would take them into town. I really should go get my WFR course, that could have ended much worse.
